Menb(TM)s Golf In 11th After Day One Of The Billy Hitchcock

AUBURN, Ala. ?€“ Mississippi State's men's golf team opened the 18th Annual Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate with a 308 on Friday and will head into the weekend in 11th-place in the team standings at The Auburn University Club.
Senior Tim Satow registered State's low-round of the day with a three-over par 75 on the par 72 course. The Durbin, South Africa native currently stands in 24th after the first round of the 54-hole event. Senior Joe Deraney and freshman Michael Knight turned in rounds of 77 on Friday. The tandem will start second round action in 32nd. Sophomore Josh Oller finished up the Bulldog scorecard with a 79 on the opening day.
Sophomore Greg Huxman, who is competing as an individual stands 17th on the individual leaderboard. The Miami, Fla. product fired a two-over par 74.
Auburn took advantage of playing its home course. The No. 6 Tigers were the only team in the field to shoot under-par in the first round. AU leads Charlotte by seven strokes heading into Saturday. Memphis, Mississippi, UAB and South Alabama close out the top five teams in the leaderboard.
Memphis's Ian Rochester scorched the course on Friday, carding a seven-under par 65 to lead the individual race. His round was the second-lowest in Hitchcock history behind former MSU golfer Alex Rocha, who carded a 62 in the 2000 tournament.
The Maroon and White will begin second round competition at 8 a.m. on Saturday.
