MSU Concludes Final Tune-Up, Ready For SBW
The Bulldogs' spring-ending Maroon and White game will be played Saturday,April 9, at 1 p.m. CT at Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field as part of SuperBulldog Weekend activities. The game will be televised live nationally byESPN2 and re-broadcast on ESPNU Saturday evening.
State's Thursday practice was little more than a dress rehearsal forSaturday and was left almost entirely in the hands of the Bulldog assistantcoaching staff. They will handle the on-field coaching Saturday. Headcoach Sylvester Croom will join ESPN talent Eric Collins (play-by-play) andMike Gottfried (color analyst) in the broadcast booth for the game. JimmyDykes will provide the sideline reporting.
"We want to come out on a positive note and with some confidence, andhopefully not get anybody hurt," MState assistant head coach, offensivecoordinator and quarterback coach Woody McCorvey said following the Thursdaydrill. "The biggest thing is we would like to see some enthusiasm.
"We don't want to turn the ball over and have a bunch of pre-snap penalties,things that will beat us," McCorvey, who will be the Maroon team headcoach, said. "We've been doing a good job of that this spring, and if wecan finish up strong like we have in the first two scrimmages, I think we'vegot a chance to be alright."
Cornerbacks coach Shane Beamer will serve as the White team head coach andechoed McCorvey's sentiments.
"We've got some young, hungry guys that are eager to get out there and showwhat they can do," Beamer said. "And (running backs coach) Freddie(Kitchens) told them that this will be the only time some of you guys willbe on national TV, so make sure you make the most of it."
