Wilson Breaks School Record In Shot Put At Tyson Invite
Magloire, distance medley relay post all-time marks
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Mississippi State University junior Nicola Wilson broke her previous shot put school record posted three weeks ago with a mark of 48-04 to close out competition for MSU at the Tyson Invitational. The event was held at the Randal Tyson Indoor Track Facility on the campus of the University of Arkansas.
"We had a good day," said MSU head coach Al Schmidt. "Zita ran a personal best in the 3000. The distance medley relay did well. Everyone did a good job."
Senior Zita Magloire ran a personal best 9 minutes, 45.21 seconds to finish fourth in the 3000-meter run. The time is the fourth-best in the event in school history.
State's distance medley relay squad also ran the fourth-best time in MSU history, finishing third in 11:44.82. MSU led off with senior Jen McPherson and followed with freshman Antrese Banks, sophomore Andrea Wahlin and junior Liz Grube.
In the 200-meter dash, Banks set a personal best, running 26.06. In the 3000-meter run, sophomore Annie Falor ran10:12.66 to post her second-best time in the event this season.
Following a week off, MSU returns to action Feb. 24-26 at the Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships to be held at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center on the campus of the University of Florida in Gainesville.
