Fans Asked To Vote On Top 10 Football Games Of The Last 25 Years
STARKVILLE, Miss. - To fill the void for Bulldog fans hungry for MSU sports action this summer, Maroon to the Max is asking Mississippi State fans to vote on what they think are the Top 10 football games of the last quarter century, dating back to the 1980 season. The games will then be broadcast on M2M in their entirety beginning July 25, leading up to the beginning of 2005 MSU football.
Fans will have until July 22 to choose from a list of 25 selected games in determining their 10 most beloved moments from the past 25 Bulldog gridiron campaigns. Then, on July 25, the game voted 10th-favorite by the fans will be broadcast on Maroon to the Max. After games 6-10 are released daily between July 25 and July 29, the Top 5 games will then be released weekly each Saturday starting July 30. The fans' No. 1 choice will be released on Saturday, August 27, the week prior to State's 2005 season opener on Sept. 3, when MSU hosts Murray State.
Among the contests included in the 25 possible choices are State's memorable 1980 upset of #1 Alabama in Jackson, MSU's 1986 win over defending SEC champion Tennessee in Knoxville, the Bulldogs' victory against #13 Texas in 1991, several of State's comebacks during the 1999 season, and its 2000 upset of third-ranked Florida at Scott Field.
In conjunction with the voting, fans who submit votes during the period will receive a 10 percent discount when they subscribe to Maroon to the Max for the first time (deadline to receive discount will be Sept. 1). Fans already subscribed to M2M can submit votes in the contest as well. All fans who vote will be entered into a drawing to receive to four (4) free tickets to the Bulldogs' Sept. 3 season opener against the Racers. A person may only vote once.
