Bulldogs Ninth After Day One Of The LSU Invitational

State is six strokes off the lead; Tim Satow in sixth after round one
BATON ROUGE, La. ?€“ Mississippi State fired an opening round 298 in the LSU Spring Invitational in Baton Rouge, La. on Friday. State currently sits in ninth-place at 10 over par on the team leaderboard, but stands six shots off the pace set by three teams. Host-LSU, Texas-Arlington and Arkansas-Little Rock fired four-over-par rounds to take the lead after day one.
The Bulldogs were led by senior Tim Satow's round of even-par 72. The Durbin, South Africa product opened with a 39 on the front nine, but rebounded to score a 33 heading into the clubhouse. He is in a tie for sixth place in the individual standings. Michael Knight and Jake Lambert both registered rounds of three-over-par. The pair of Bulldogs are in the 28th spot after day one of the 54-hole event. Sophomore Josh Oller turned in a 76 on the opening day, while senior Joe Deraney rounded out the Bulldog scorecard.
Tim (Satow) played really well, especially on the back nine. He had eight birdies on the day, said MSU head coach Clay Homan. We're in pretty good shape. It was tough out there today with the wind. We definitely feel like we left some shots out there today, said Homan.
UALR's Patrick Sullivan posted the round of the day with a three-under-par 69 to lead the individual race. UTA's Tyrone Mordt sits one stroke back at two-under-par. On a tough day for scoring, only five competitors turned in rounds under par on Friday.
The Bulldogs will start second-round action at 8 a.m. on Saturday.
