52nd Ranked Lady Bulldog Netters Begin SEC Play
STARKVILLE, Miss. - The Mississippi State women's tennis team will travel to Lexington, Ky., on Friday for its first Southeastern Conference match of the season. The Lady Bulldogs will face the seventh-ranked Wildcats at 3 p.m. ET at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex. UK leads the overall series, 24-3.
Then the squad will move south to Nashville, Tenn., to face the sixth-ranked Vanderbilt Commodores at noon on Sunday at the Brownlee O. Currey Jr. Tennis Center. In the series between the two teams, Vandy is ahead 17-7.
"SEC play finally begins for us this weekend," said head coach Tracy Lane. "We open with two top-10 teams. We have been playing some good tennis, especially on the road. I look for us having two really great matches this weekend that will come down to the wire."
In the latest team poll released by the ITA, MSU moved from t75 to its best ranking of the year, 52nd. This is the highest ranking for the Lady Bulldogs since the 2002 season.
