Bulldog Golfers Set To Play In LSU Invitational
Last time on the course the Bulldogs captured the title at the Homewood Suites Invitational in Mobile, Ala. on March 22. Senior Joe Deraney brought back the individual crown at the event, with rounds of 69, 70 and 71.
Head coach Clay Homan's five-man crew this weekend will consist of Deraney, Josh Oller, Jake Lambert, Tim Satow and Michael Knight. Deraney ranks 10th in the Southeastern Conference in scoring. Oller is coming off a fifth-place finish last time out on the course. Satow has played in all eight tournaments this season. Lambert closed out his last tournament with a final round 73. Knight posted a 29th place finish in the last outing.
The Maroon and White is familiar with the par-72, 7,274 yard University Club. They competed in the University Club Intercollegiate during the fall season. The squad finished the tournament with rounds of 280-289-294. This year marks the fifth appearance for MSU in the LSU Spring Invitational. LSU has won the previous four team titles.
The 2005 edition of the LSU Spring Invitational includes Arkansas-Little Rock, Arkansas State, Furman, Jacksonville State, Lamar, Louisiana-Lafayette, LSU, Maryland, Memphis, Middle Tennessee State, South Alabama, South Florida, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern Mississippi, Texas-Arlington and Tulane.
State will be in the first group on the course on Friday at 8 a.m., teeing off from No. 1. They will be paired with Lamar and Tulane.
