#14 Tennis Dogs To Meet Arkansas Friday On The Road
MSU, 10-4 overall, has won eight of its last 10 contests, including a 5-1 start in Southeastern Conference play. The Bulldogs are currently tied for second in the SEC with No. 4 Mississippi, No. 8 Georgia and No. 17 Tennessee. Ninth-ranked Florida leads the league at 6-0.
Arkansas will bring a 3-11 overall record into Friday's match. The Hogs are 1-5 in SEC play thus far, but got its first conference win this past weekend, upsetting then-No. 40 Vanderbilt. UA also came just points away from upsetting Kentucky, now ranked 18th, on Sunday, falling 4-3.
State owns a 16-5, all-time record against Arkansas, 6-1 in Fayetteville, but the Razorbacks claimed the last meeting, a 5-2 decision last season in Starkville.
"Arkansas is one of the most dangerous teams in the SEC," MSU head coach Sylvain Guichard said. "Though their record may not show it, they have a very talented team. They've just had a lot of close losses this season and a tough schedule to start the conference with. They played much better last weekend against two good teams. As with any SEC match, we will have to be at our best."
Following Friday's contest, MSU returns home this Sunday, April 3, to welcome No. 22 LSU at 1 p.m., starting a four-match homestand that will end the regular season slate. During that homestand, State will also host No. 9 Florida (Apr. 8), No. 34 South Carolina (Apr. 10) and No. 4 Mississippi (Apr. 16). The Florida and South Carolina will be part of Super Bulldog Weekend activities.
