MSU Women Netters Fall To Sixth-Ranked Commodores
State's 32nd-ranked duo of Zsuzsanna Fodor and Anastasia Kugakolova defeated 33rd-ranked Audra Falk and Annie Menees at No. 1 in an 8-5 decision. MSU's tandem improved to 6-1 in dual action play with the win. Polina Kokoulina and Magdi Rekasi fell, 8-4, to 54th-ranked Taka Bertrand and Amanda Fish at the second spot. At No. 3, Hayley Rudman and Tarryn Rudman dropped their match, 8-6, to Caroline Ferrell and Amanda Taylor.
Rock Hill, S.C., native Renee Joseph won the lone singles match for the squad, defeating Julie Martin at the sixth spot, 6-4, 6-3. 26th-ranked Fodor won the first set of her match with 29th-ranked Falk, 6-1, but fell, 6-4, in the second set, forcing a third set super tiebreaker. Falk won the match in a 10-6 tiebreaker decision.
Kugakolova fell, 6-0, 6-1, to 62nd-ranked Fish at the second spot. Sophomore Tarryn Rudman was defeated by Bertrand at No. 3, 6-3, 6-2. At the fourth position, Kokoulina took on Taylor, falling 6-4, 6-2. Senior Rekasi dropped her match to Menees, 6-2, 7-5, at No. 5.
Next, the team will return home to host Auburn on Fri., Mar. 11, at 3 p.m. and Alabama at 1 p.m. on Sun., Mar. 13.
