Sophomore Amanda Mathis Ties Course Record At LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic
"The team got off to a good start today and maintained their steadiness throughout the round to post a great team total," said head coach Christi Sanders. "Amanda was on fire today, playing a mistake free round."
Picayune, Miss., native Amanda Mathis shot a career-low 67 in her second round, tying the course record and moving her from tied at 20th-place to third overall. Entering the final day of competition, Mathis' one-under par tournament total leaves her three strokes out of first place.
Janet Dyer shot a 77, leaving her tied for 26th place, and Beth Irwin recorded a 76 on day two, tying her for 36th. Stephanie Godare is tied for 43rd with her 75, seven strokes lower than her first round. Tied for 74th, freshman Julia Huh shot an 80.
Vanderbilt's Chris Brady leads the field with her four-under par tournament total, firing a 68 in the second round. Host LSU extended its team lead, shooting a two-over par 290 on the day.
The field consists of Alabama, Augusta State, Birmingham-Southern, College of Charleston, James Madison, Kansas, Kentucky, LSU, Louisville, Mississippi, UNC Wilmington, North Carolina State, North Carolina, Tulane and Vanderbilt.
The final day of competition will begin with a shotgun start on Sunday at 8:30 a.m.
