State's Women Netters Host #4 Georgia And #19 Tennessee
STARKVILLE, Miss. - The 34th-ranked Mississippi State women's tennis team(8-2, 2-2 SEC) will host the fourth-ranked Bulldogs of Georgia (10-2, 4-0SEC) on Friday, March 25, in a match set to begin at 3 p.m. at the A.J.Pitts Tennis Centre. On Sunday, MSU will face the 19th-ranked Lady Vols ofTennessee (10-3, 3-1 SEC) at 1 p.m., also at the Pitts Tennis Centre.
"We are heading into a really big weekend, and the girls understand theopportunities that lie ahead," said head coach Tracy Lane. "Georgia andTennessee are two extremely respected programs, and we are looking forwardto the challenge."
In the latest poll released by the ITA, State moved up two spots to34th-place. This is the highest ranking for an MSU women's tennis team sincethe first match of the 2003 season. Sophomore Zsuzsanna Fodor advanced sixspots to 21st, and along with doubles partner Anastasia Kugakolova, the duois now ranked 20th.
