Lady Bulldog Netters Move To 23rd In The Nation
STARKVILLE, Miss. - The Lady Bulldog women's tennis team moved up elevenspots to 23rd in nation in the latest poll released by the IntercollegiateTennis Association after upsetting its third higher-ranked team this seasonon Sunday. This is the highest ranking for the squad since March of 2000when the team was ranked 22nd.
In its last match, then 34th-ranked State upset 19th-ranked Tennessee inStarkville in a 4-2 decision. The last time the Lady Bulldogs won againstthe Lady Vols was in 1987. With the win, the squad improved to 9-3 overalland 3-3 in the Southeastern Conference, giving them the lead in the SECWestern Division.
MSU will play its last home match of the regular season on Friday, hostingthe 62nd-ranked Arkansas Lady Razorbacks at 3 p.m. at the A.J. Pitts TennisCentre.
