McWilliams And The 4x400m Relay Team Advance To Finals

AUSTIN, Texas. ?- Mississippi State University's Tiffany McWilliams and the Bulldog 4x400m relay team advanced to the finals of the NCAA Track and Field Championships on Thursday at the Mike A. Myers Stadium.
McWilliams recorded a Mike A. Myers Stadium record with her time of 4:11.64. Leading from start to finish in the first heat, her splits were 64.0, 67.8, 68.1 and 51.6. The relay team took second in their heat and fifth overall with a time of 3:03.42 in the prelims.
"The men's 4x400m did great," said head coach Al Schmidt. "We are going in as a fifth seed, but we are right there. I am real pleased with how those four guys ran. Tiffany, of course, ran really, really well in the 1500m. She won her heat by about five seconds and leads the pack by three or four seconds."
Lewis also competed in the long jump, taking 14th with a leap of 24-11 1/4. MSU?s 4x100m relay team of Trey Hardee, Jamel Ashley, Arthur Davis and LaChristopher Lewis took 13th in the prelims with a 39.70 performance. Jennifer McPherson also ran in the 1500m, finishing 24th in 4:34.09.
