Lady Bulldogs Sign Louisiana Tech Transfer Sarah Johnson
Johnson saw action in 16 games this past year for Louisiana Tech while previously playing point guard at Angelina Junior College in Lufkin, Texas during the 2002-03 season. Averaging 15.1 points per game and 5.2 assists per game in the starting point guard position, Johnson helped lead the Roadrunners to a second place finish in the Texas East Conference. Her performance earned her a spot on the all-Texas East Conference First Team.
She graduated with honors from Welsh High School in 2002 where she lettered four years for the Greyhounds, leading Welsh to the state playoffs all four years and state quarterfinals twice. The 5-4 point guard averaged double figures her entire high school career, putting up 22.1 points per game and 6.3 assists per game her senior year.
She was named first team all-State three times and all-State honorable mention as a freshman. The four-time all-District honoree, was named District MVP as a sophomore and junior. She was also a three-time all-Acadiana first team nominee. Johnson was named an honorable mention McDonald's All-American and Lake Charles Press all-Southwest Louisiana MVP for her senior year campaign.
Johnson was a six-year member of the Acadiana Stars AAU team in Lafayette, La. and also played with the Dominos in New Orleans, La. throughout the summers of her high school career.
Johnson joins Alexandria Hagler of Memphis, Tenn., Miayorka Johnson of Ripley, Miss., April Nathaniel of Memphis, Tenn. and Amy Reeder of Pontotoc, Miss. as Lady Bulldog 2003-04 signees.
