Illinois' Jacqui Aubert Signs With Lady Bulldog Track Team
"Jacqui is a really great distance runner with a lot of experience," said Schmidt. "She is going to be a great addition to this club."
Aubert broke the school record with her personal best mark of 10:57.22 at the 2002 2A Illinois State Track Championships, finishing in fifth place. She took eighth at the same meet in the 1600m run in 5:16.54. She holds the distinction of being one of only three female athletes at Crystal Lake South to ever medal at the State Track Championships.
"I was really excited to sign with Mississippi State," said Aubert. "I hope that I can come in and help the team right away. The people I met on my recruiting trip were really nice, and I'm looking forward to being a part of the team."
In 2002 and 2003, she was the Conference and Section Champion in the 1600m and 3200m and earned all-State honors in both events. Named 2002 and 2003 Most Valuable Runner as a Gator, she was honored as the 2002 Athlete of Year by The Northwest Herald, her local paper.
Aubert crossed the finish line at the 2003 2A Illinois State Cross Country Championships in 17:38 for an 11th place showing. She improved her time from the 2002 State Championships (17:47) by nine seconds.
Also excelling outside of athletics, she was named to the National Honor Society and a member of the Gator Pride, a leadership program.
