Women's Golf Finishes In 11th At SEC Championship
BATON ROUGE, La. ?€“ Mississippi State's women's golf team finished in 11th place at the SEC Championship, firing a 308 on the final day of the championship, for a tournament score of 923.
Sophomore Stephanie Godare led State with a tournament score of 227 and a 31st place finish. Junior Beth Irwin finished in a tie for 39th place with a tournament score of 229. Ashleigh Korzack was one stroke behind Irwin and finished in 42nd place. Janet Dyer finished in 55th with a tournament score of 237. Freshman Amanda Mathis finished in 60th with a tournament score of 246.
Vanderbilt took top team honors firing a 291 on the final day, for a tournament score of 877, to hold off defending champion Auburn and LSU by four strokes. Vanderbilt's May Wood pared the first hole of sudden death to claim medalist honors over Tennessee's Violeta Retamoza. Adrienne White of Mississippi finished in third three strokes back of Wood and Retamoza's 213.
