Women's Golf In 11th After Second Round At SEC Championship
BATON ROUGE, La. ?€“ Mississippi State's women's golf team is 11th place after the second day of action at the SEC Championship, firing a 309 in the second round of the tournament, for a tournament score of 615.
Junior Beth Irwin leads State in a tie for 24th place tie after the second round. Irwin fired a 77 on the second day of the championship for a tournament score of 150. Sophomores Stephanie Godare and Ashleigh Korzack are behind Irwin in ties for 32nd and 36th respectively. Godare tied her career-low (76) in the second round, as Korzack fired a 77. Janet Dyer is tied for 54th with a score of 160. Freshman Amanda Mathis fired a second day score of 80 for 59th place.
Vanderbilt leads in the team standings firing a 291 in the second round to lead defending champion Auburn by one stroke 586 to 587. Tennessee is in third one back of Auburn and two back of the Commodores. Vandy's May Wood is a top in the individual rankings with a tournament score of 140. First round leader, Violeta Retamoza of Tennessee is two strokes back in second, as teammate Jessica Shepley is in third with a tournament score of 143.
