MSU Final Spring Scrimmage Format Announced
STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Mississippi State head football coach Sylvester Croom released Wednesday the format for the Bulldogs' spring-ending scrimmage, set for Saturday at 6 p.m. in Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field. Tickets for the scrimmage, the highlight of Super Bulldog Weekend activities on the campus, are priced at $5 each and are available at the Scott Field ticket office Saturday night.
Positional drills and warm-ups actually begin in the stadium at 5 p.m., with the pre-game program beginning at 6 p.m. Croom will introduce his coaching staff, preview the scrimmage schedule, and make some additional comments prior to the controlled scrimmage.
The first 30 plays of the scrimmage will be full-field game-like work, with the first offense working against the second defense from the offense's 35-yard line. Following the initial eight snaps, the second offense will test the first defense for eight plays from the same line of scrimmage. The third offense and defense will conclude the full-field work with the final eight plays.
The two units will then move to short-field situations. Those same groups will run eight plays each from the defense's 33-yard line. The scrimmage will conclude with three plays each from those units in goal-line situations.
