Lady Bulldogs Fall To #54 Mississippi In Final Home Match
The Lady Rebels swept the Lady Bulldogs in doubles to start the match. The 27th-ranked tandem of Chloe Carlotti and Virginia Tomatis defeated MSU's duo of Magdi Rekasi and Anastasia Kugakolova in an 8-6 decision on court one. Hayley Rudman and Tarryn Rudman fell in a tiebreaker 9-8(4) at the second position to Audra Adams and Sabrina Peppl. Marcelle Hirt and Justyna Switala dropped their match to Florencia Basile and Karem Harboe, 8-3, at the third spot.
Kugakolova recorded the lone singles victory for MSU with a win at No. 2, winning three of her last four matches. She defeated Mississippi's Peppl in a 7-5, 6-2 decision. Hirt fell on court one to No. 63 Carlotti, 6-1, 6-1. MSU's Tarryn Rudman dropped her match to Harboe at No. 3, 6-0, 6-1.
On court four, Rekasi was defeated 6-2, 6-2 by Basile. Ueda fell 6-0, 6-0 to Tomatis at the fifth position. Switala's match was suspended with Adams with the Lady Rebel up 6-3, 5-2 on court six. The match was suspended due to inclement weather in the area.
Next, the Lady Bulldogs travel to Nashville, Tenn., for the 2004 Southeastern Conference Championship on Thursday, April 15.
