MSU Remains In 17th After Second Round Of The LSU Invite

BATON ROUGE, La. ?€“ The Mississippi State men's golf team improved the team scoring, but still remained in 17th place after 36 holes of the LSU Invitational in Baton Rouge, La. at The University Club on Saturday.
MSU fired a second-round score of 296 on the second day of the tournament, after posting a 305 in the opening round on Friday. The round of 296 is the best round for the Maroon and White since carding a 294 in the final round of the Matlock Collegiate Classic earlier this spring.
Daniel Boles and Jared Jimenez both turned in one over-par 73 performances on Saturday. Boles currently stands in a five-way tie for 57th, while Jimenez rebounded from a 79 on Friday. Two Bulldogs are tied for 68th in Joe Deraney and Tim Satow. Carl Sutton fired a two over-par 75 for MSU.
Furman is the clubhouse leader after 36 holes. They carded a 283 on Saturday and carry a four-stroke lead over the Blue Raiders of Middle Tennessee State. Charlotte turned in the best round of the day with a 281. Furman's T.J. Blanford leads the individual leaderboard with a 10 under-par score. Tulane's Michael Thompson is just three shots behind at seven under-par.
The final round of the LSU Spring Invitational will tee off at 8 a.m. on Sunday.
