No. 26 Bulldog Netters To Close Out Home Slate Vs. No. 29 Arkansas Friday

STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Mississippi State's 26th-ranked men's tennis team will conclude its 2004 regular-season home schedule Friday, hosting 29th-ranked Arkansas at MSU's A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre. Match time between the Bulldogs and Razorbacks has been moved up 15 minutes to a 1:45 p.m. start.
State is 7-5 overall, 2-2 in Southeastern Conference play. Arkansas is 10-4, 1-3. MSU leads the series with UA 16-4, 7-1 in Starkville. In fact, since the Razorbacks joined the SEC in 1992, the Bulldogs are a perfect 13-0 in the series.
MSU is paced by two-time, all-American senior Romain Ambert, currently ranked 22nd nationally in singles. Arkansas has two top 100 players in its lineup in sophomore Adrians Zguns (10th) and senior Nathan Price (83rd). Neither team has any doubles duos currently ranked.
"This is another big match for us," MSU head coach Sylvain Guichard said. "Arkansas is very solid and has some good wins this year. They will be tough to beat. We hope our fans will come out and support us in our last regular-season home match."
Friday will be Senior Day for three Bulldog netmen. Four-year lettermen Ambert, Matt Armstrong and Max Fomine will be honored.
Following Friday's match, State begins a six-match road swing that will wrap up the regular season, travelling to meet 13th-ranked LSU in Baton Rouge Sunday at 1 p.m.
