Maniscalco started all 246 games in his four-year career at Mississippi State University. Second team All-SEC in 2003, Maniscalco was the Rays' 8th round selection in the June 2003 Draft. In 2003, he led the Bulldogs with 94 hits and 20 stolen bases, batting a career-high .338. Originally from Oxford, Alabama, Maniscalco was named Alabama's "Mr. Baseball" in 1999 by the Alabama Sportswriters' Association.
