A three-time winner of Marshall County's Most Valuable Performer award, Banks is also a two-time recipient of the Gadsden Times Track Athlete of the Year. Guntersville High School also named her the school's top field event athlete all four years.
"She's another one of those talented Alabama prep athletes," head coach Al Schmidt said. "She's a multifaceted athlete that will be very helpful to our team."
Banks set a new high jump record at the Cullman Invitational, a 31-year-old event, clearing a personal best 5-6. Her best long jump measured 18-3, with her best triple jump mark coming in at 36-10. Banks also ran the hurdles at GHS, finishing the 100-meter hurdles in 15.4 and the 300m hurdles in 47.7.
Also a two-year letterwinner in basketball, Banks received best defensive player honors for GHS last season. She was also named to the all-Marshall County and all-area teams for basketball. She helped Guntersville to the 4A state title game in 2003.
