State's Men's Golf Team Travels To Atlanta For Atlanta Intercollegiate
STARKVILLE, Miss. -- The Mississippi State University men's golf team travels to Atlanta, Ga., on Thursday, May 8, for the Atlanta Intercollegiate. The two-day Georgia State hosted event will be held at the Eagle's Landing Country Club, a par-72, 6,899 yard course. Thirty-six rounds will be played on day one and 18 on day two.
During the last regular season tournament before the NCAA Regionals, the field boasts #1 Clemson, #4 Augusta State, #5 Florida, #12 Auburn, #13 Georgia, #22 College of Charleston, #32 Vanderbilt, #58 Georgia State, #86 Louisville, #87 Florida State and #93 UAB.
At the 2002 Atlanta Intercollegiate, MSU finished in 12th place with a 901 tournament score (301-290-310). Joe Deraney led the squad with a 19th place finish after firing a two-under par 70 in round one (70-73-76).
Last year, Auburn was crowned team champion with an eight-under par performance (293-282-281). UAB's Graeme McDowell earned medalist honors after shooting a 19-under par total of 197, nine strokes in front of the runner-up Augusta State's Scott Jamieson.
