MSU Men's Golfer Named To SEC Academic Honor Roll
STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Carl Sutton, a member of Mississippi State men's golf team, was named to the 2003 Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll, released by the SEC on Wednesday. The honor roll is based on the athletes' grades for the 2001-2002 academic year.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must (1) have a 3.0 grade point average for either the past year (two semesters or three quarters) or a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher for their career, (2) be a sophomore or higher in terms of academic classification and (3) have 24 semester or 36 quarter hours toward a degree.
Sutton, a junior, holds a 3.8 grade point average in mechanical engineering. The Jonesboro, Ga., native is a first-time member on the honor roll.
Since 1984, State has had 28 golfers named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
