Women's Golf Freshman Sofie Andersson Named To All-SEC Team
Last year two Lady Bulldogs were named to the list, Anna Gertsson and now-senior Anna Knutsson. Andersson is the sixth MSU golfer to be named to the list since 1997 and the second freshman to be named from Mississippi State.
"Anytime you have a player named to the All-SEC team, it is a great honor," said Mississippi State head coach Christi Sanders. "They represent the top golfers in the toughest conference in the nation."
The Angelholm, Sweden, native finished fourth in the SEC Championships in Lexington, Ky., shooting an overall tournament score of 222 finishing five strokes out of first and two strokes behind defending SEC medalist, Kristy McPherson of South Carolina.
"To make the All-SEC team it is based on score versus par," Sanders said. "I am excited that Sofie made the second team. She missed making the first team by just one or two shots."
Andersson has led the Lady Bulldogs this year, leading MSU in six of the nine tournaments with a stroke average of 74.80.
