Lauren Johnson Named SEC Track Athlete Of The Week
STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Freshman Lauren Johnson became the third Lady Bulldog to be named track athlete of the week by the Southeastern Conference Wednesday.
Johnson, a Scottsboro, Ala., native, won the 100-meter hurdles last week at the TCU Invitational with a regional qualifying time of 14.01. She also finished first in the long jump with a mark of 18-10 3/4.
The freshman also is provisionally qualified in the heptathlon, holding the school's freshman record in the event. Johnson is the third Lady Bulldog to be named outdoor track athlete of the week and the second to receive the honor during the 2003 track seasons.
Johnson and the Lady Bulldogs start competition Thursday at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa.
