Lady Bulldogs In Action At SEC Women's Championships
Participating for the Lady Bulldogs this weekend is sophomore Natalie Booth. Booth led the Lady Bulldogs in the LSU/Cleveland firing a team leading 226. Sofie Andersson, who has the led the Lady Bulldogs this spring capturing three of the four tournaments as the MSU leader. Also participating for MSU starting five is Beth Irwin, Anna Knutsson, and Janet Dyer.
"I feel like the team is prepared an confident going into the championship," head coach Sanders' said. "Four of the five starters have seen the course the tournament will be played on."
The 2003 field features six teams ranked in the Golf Week/Sagarin top 25. No. 7 Auburn, No. 8 Vanderbilt, No. 10 Tennessee, No. 11 Florida, No. 15 Georgia, and No. 16 South Carolina. Also among the field are Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana State, Mississippi and host Kentucky.
South Carolina took first place behind a seven-under par performance by Kristy McPherson. The Lady Gamecocks edged Auburn by three strokes, while McPherson won the medal with a 209, two strokes ahead of Vanderbilt's Nicki Cutler.
The tournament will tee off at 9 a.m. with Arkansas, Mississippi and Kentucky. Mississippi State will tee off at 9:50 a.m. with Louisiana State and Alabama. Saturday's tee times are set for 9 a.m. with the teams being re-seeded and the final round concluding on Sunday with a 9 a.m. tee time.
