MSU Men Win Final Home Meet At Jace Lacoste Invite

STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Mississippi State's men's track took home the team title at the final home meet of the year, the eighth annual Jace Lacoste Invitational.
MSU's men scored 143 points to pace the male teams. State's women finished second with 175.5 points, ranking behind Southeast Missouri's 212 points.
The Bulldogs added two regional qualifiers on Super Bulldog Weekend Saturday. Sophomore Glenn McFadden won the 100-meter dash in 10.47 to qualify for his second regional event. LaChristopher Lewis leaped 24-2 1/4 for his second qualifying mark of the year. The all-American McFadden previously qualified in the 200m, while the Coldwater native Lewis was a 400-meter dash qualifier.
MSU's women had no new regional qualifiers come from action at W.O. Spencer Stadium/Carl Maddox Track. However, sophomore Tiffany McWilliams broke the 5000-meter meet record, crossing the line in 17:01.67. That topped the previous meet mark by nearly 30 seconds.
Keston Nelson also had a good meet, taking the 400m dash (47.83) and finishing second at 200m (21.24). Senior Kelvin Harris won the 110-meter hurdles (13.99), while Lewis also won the 400-meter hurdles. MSU's relay teams won both the 4x100m and 4x400m relay.
Sophomore Chris Withrow took the pole vault win, clearing a personal-best 14-7 1/4. Junior Clay Garner won the javelin (189-6), and Matthew Denton finished first in the high jump (6-9 1/2).
MSU's women had success in the distance events, with Meggan Hodge winning the 1500m (4:43.54) and Cassie Hanan winning the 3000-meter steeplechase (11:43.79). Freshman Lauren Johnson took the 100m hurdles (14.28), and sophomore Crystal Averitt won the hammer (157-9). MSU also took the 4x400m relay (3:49.41).
State travels to the Mt. SAC Relays and the TCU Invitational next weekend.
