MSU Track Set For Eighth-Annual Jace Lacoste Invite
MSU's men come in ranked fourth in the first outdoor track power rankings released by Trackwire.com. The Bulldogs have 12 regional qualifiers coming into their fourth meet of the outdoor season.
Two Bulldogs look to add regional qualifying marks to their resumes. Senior Chris Boldt could qualify in the 1500 meters after provisionally qualifying in the mile indoors. Sophomore Glenn McFadden also looks to add a 100-meter dash qualifier to his 200m time run at the SEC Quadrangular.
State's women start Saturday's meet with five NCAA Mideast Regional qualifiers. Head coach Al Schmidt will look towards the hurdles for two more possible qualifiers. Senior Le'Kisha Barnaby-Pope and freshman Lauren Johnson have the opportunity to post qualifying marks in the 100-meter hurdles.
The meet is named for former all-SEC decathlete Jace Lacoste. MSU's former captain and four-year member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll, Lacoste was also the M-Club president while at State.
State hosts Southeastern Missouri, Memphis and UAB at W.O. Spencer Stadium/Carl Maddox Track during Super Saturday. MSU's men won last year's meet, where 11 meet records were set or tied.
Live meet scoring will be available on deltatiming.com.
Field events are set to begin with the men's javelin and women's hammer throws Saturday at 10 a.m. Running events start at noon with the women's 5000-meter run.
