Lady Bulldog Netters Fall To No. 47 Mississippi
In doubles action, MSU's Magdi Rekasi and Anastasia Kugakolova defeated Lady Rebels Audra Adams and Sabrina Peppl on court two, 8-3. The Lady Bulldog duo is now 3-4 in SEC play.
At No. 1, Elaine Fagan and Yumi Ueda fell 8-5 to Mira Radu and Virginia Tomatis. State's tandem of Marcelle Hirt and Justyna Switala dropped their match to Florencia Basile and Karem Harboe, at the third position, 8-2.
MSU's Kugakolova, at No. 2, defeated Karem Harboe 6-3, 4-6, 1-0(7) for State's only singles victory of the match. On court one, Rekasi fell 6-2, 6-3 to 21st-ranked Radu. Hirt dropped a hard-fought match to Florencia Basile in a 6-7(6), 6-0, 1-0(8) decision, at the third spot.
Lone senior Fagan fell 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 to Sabrina Peppl on court four. Ueda, at No. 5, fell 6-3, 6-0 to Lady Rebel Virginia Tomatis. At the sixth position, Patricia Assumpcao was defeated by Audra Adams, 6-0, 6-4.
Next for MSU is the SEC tournament to be held in Knoxville, Tenn., April 17-20 at the Varsity Courts. The tournament has a single elimination format.
