State Men Travel To Auburn For The Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate
STARKVILLE, Miss. -- The Mississippi State University men's golf team competes in the 2003 Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate in Auburn, Ala., which will be held at the Saughahatchee Country Club, a 72-par, 6,689 yard course, this weekend.
The three-day tournament starts on Friday, April 11. Tee times begin at 7:30 a.m. on Friday and at 8 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
The field includes #13 Auburn, #18 Charleston, #21 Arkansas, #24 Vanderbilt, #30 Alabama, #55 Southeastern Louisiana, #65 Mississippi, #72 Georgia State, #84 Florida State, #97 Memphis, and UAB.
In 2002, MSU finished in fourth-place, their best finish of the season, at 11-over par (289-291-295). Codie Mudd (71-72-74) and Kellen Maurer (74-73-70) led the team at one-over par finishing tied for seventh-place.
Last year, the team champion was host Auburn at three-under par (284-283-294). Auburn's Kevin Haefner was the individual medalist at nine-under par (69-70-68).
In their last tournament, the Bulldogs finished in 13th-place at the Conrad Rehling Alabama Spring Invitational held at the Capstone Club, a 71-par, 6,999 yard course, in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
