MSU Coaching Staff Preps For Final Spring Scrimmage
STARKVILLE, Miss. -- The Mississippi State football coaching staff is putting the final touches on its offensive and defensive game plans for Saturday's final spring scrimmage. The Maroon will play the White in a 12 noon scrimmage at Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field as part of Super Bulldog Weekend activities.
The format for the scrimmage will be controlled in offense (white) vs. defense (maroon) fashion, rather than in a regular game condition. The coaching staff will employ a running clock, stopping only for kicking situations. Halftime will be marked by situational field-goal kicking. Head football coach Jackie Sherrill hopes to run 60-75 offensive plays during the scrimmage, which will feature each unit's first-string players against the remainder of the squad on the other side of the ball.
The staff prepared for Saturday's finale with a two-hour workout Thursday on the practice fields behind the Shira Athletic Complex.
