State Women Defeat No. 55 Arkansas For SEC Win, 4-1
The match was moved indoors to MSU's McCarthy Gymnasium due to rain. Singles action was played first.
Anastasia Kugakolova defeated Arkansas' Anna Dybicz at No.2 in a 6-2, 6-2 decision. State's Magdi Rekasi fell on court one to Simona Arghire, 6-2, 0-6, 6-3. At the third position, Marcelle Hirt was victorious over Ferreira, 6-4, 6-2.
MSU's Elaine Fagan was honored as State's lone senior in a ceremony before the match. Fagan also recorded her first career SEC singles victory with a 6-3, 6-1 decision over Lady Razorback Iliana Pacheco at the fourth position.
Yumi Ueda clinched the match for the Lady Bulldogs with a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Whitney Morton at the fifth position. The match between MSU's Justyna Switala and Arkansas?s Monika Dybicz was suspended at 3-6, 4-5.
Next, State travels to Oxford for its final regular season match on Friday, April 11, with the Lady Rebels of Mississippi. The match is set to begin at 2 p.m. at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.
