LaToya Thomas Named To AP All-America First Team
"It's a tremendous honor to be recognized as an AP First Team All-American. We are really proud of her achievements this season as well as our team's success," said head coach Sharon Fanning. "When you look at her consistency and individual accomplishments as well as the direction of our program during her career, you can see the impact she has made at Mississippi State University. We look forward to following her at the next level."
First team unanimous selections were Diana Taurasi of Connecticut and Beard. Thomas along with Nicole Ohlde of Kansas State and Kelly Mazzante of Penn State were named to the first team. Thomas is the only senior among this group.
Rounding out the second team are Chantelle Anderson of Vanderbilt, Nicole Powell of Stanford, Kara Lawson of Tennessee, Jocelyn Penn of South Carolina and Lindsay Whalen of Minnesota.
The third team is represented by Stacy Stephens of Texas, Shereka Wright of Purdue, Kendra Wecker of Kansas State, Plenette Pierson of Texas Tech and Seimone Augustus of LSU, the only freshman on any of the All-America teams.
