Chad Henry Inks Pro Baseball Contract
The Panama City, Fla., native enjoyed a career-best senior season, hitting .296 with 18 extra-base hits and 42 RBI in 56 starts at second base. He ranked third on the club in stolen bases (9), RBI (42) and walks (36), while his .969 fielding percentage was the fifth-highest among second basemen in the Southeastern Conference.
Henry, the nephew of former MSU hurler Frank Henry, is the second member of the 2002 MSU baseball team to sign a professional baseball contract. Junior pitcher Chris Young of Stow, Ohio, an 18th-round pick of the Colorado Rockies in last week's Major League Baseball Draft, has signed with Colorado and reported to the Rockies' mini-camp in Tucson, Ariz. He is expected to begin his pro career in the Northwest League with the Tri-Cities Dust Devils in Pasco, Wash.
