Diamond Dogs Trek To Hattiesburg To Open Five-Game Run On The Road
Junior right-hander Jacob Blakeney (1-2, 5.68) will start for the Bulldogs opposite USM righty Stephen Castleman (2-1, 4.66).
The Bulldogs won four of their last five games to post a 6-2 record during the homestand. Sunday's 6-4 win over Arkansas clinched for MSU its third SEC series in five weekends of league competition.
Tuesday's game begins a five-game road run for Mississippi State, which resumes SEC competition in a three-game series at Auburn.
Sophomore right-fielder Steve Gendron, currently riding an eight-game hitting streak, leads Mississippi State with a .363 batting average. Right behind is first baseman Matthew Brinson, who went 7-for-13 and rove in seven runs last weekend against Arkansas.
MSU and USM have split the two-game sets the past two seasons, but the Bulldogs own a 64-28 all-time series lead, including a 23-18 mark in Hattiesburg.
