Let's Play Two! MSU-JSU Twinbill Set Saturday At Dudy Noble Field

STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Saturday's Mississippi State-Jacksonville State baseball game at Dudy Noble Field has been turned into a doubleheader. First pitch for Saturday's opener between the Bulldogs and the Gamecocks is 2 p.m., with the second game of the twinbill to follow approximately 30 minutes after the first game. Tanner Brock (1-0, 0.00) and Paul Maholm (0-1, 5.79) will draw pitching starts for MSU in today's doubleheader.

The Bulldogs opened the week with a pair of wins in Louisiana, scoring a season-high 14 runs in a 14-7 win at Louisiana Tech Tuesday in Ruston, La., and then getting a route-going pitching performance from junior pitcher Chris Young in a 6-5 win at Louisiana-Monroe.

Jacksonville State, coached by former MSU assistant Jim Case, opens the weekend at 7-5 after sweeping a three-game home series with Oakland. Also on staff at JSU is another former MSU assistant, Matt Ishee.

The MSU-JSU series opens a seven-game homestand for the Bulldogs, who are scheduled to host Jackson State Wednesday (4 p.m.) and then open a school-first three-game weekend series with Loyola Marymount (Mar. 8-10).

The series concludes Sunday with a 1:30 p.m. game.

All of the MSU-JSU games are scheduled to be broadcast on WFCA-FM (107.9), the flagship station of MSU athletics.
