Chris Jones Named Preseason All-America by Sporting News

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State junior defensive lineman Chris Jones has been recognized as a Sporting News preseason first-team All-America selection, the publication announced this week.
Jones, a native of Houston, Miss., has totaled 58 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, six sacks and five pass breakups in his first two seasons with the Bulldogs. Earlier this month, he was named to Phil Steele’s preseason All-America squad.
In 2014, Jones played in all 13 games and recorded 26 tackles, including 3.5 for loss. He helped form a disruptive Bulldog defense that reached its first Orange Bowl in 73 years and won 10 regular season games for the first time in school history.
The versatile Jones and MSU are participating in summer workouts on campus before opening preseason camp on Monday, Aug. 3.
