Thirty-Six Bulldogs Earn Degrees at Spring Graduation
STARKVILLE, Miss. – Thirty-six Mississippi State Bulldogs officially earned their academic degrees in 2015 spring commencement ceremonies held on campus.
For the first time in school history, Bulldog scholarship athletes finished the fall and spring semesters with over a 3.0 cumulative grade point average. MSU female scholarship athletes posted their highest semester GPA ever this spring (3.3) highlighted by coach Aaron Gordon’s soccer program with a 3.56.
Baseball standout Seth Heck, who was named the Southeastern Conference Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year on Monday, tallied a perfect 4.0 this semester while maintaining a 3.91 cumulative GPA in graduating in business management.
Women’s track and field led the way with nine graduates followed by five each on the baseball and football teams. NFL draftees Preston Smith and Josh Robinson will join their respective teams in mini camps as graduates. Of the 17 seniors who saw action in the Capital One Orange Bowl on New Year’s Eve, 16 of them have earned their MSU degrees.
Women’s golf first-team All-American Ally McDonald graduated with a 3.61 GPA in interdisciplinary studies.
Three members of Vic Schaefer’s women’s basketball squad that set a school-record with 27 victories earned their undergraduate degrees, including Martha Alwal, Kendra Grant and Jerica James. Men’s basketball’s Trivante Bloodman, Isaiah Butler and Jeffery Johnson graduated as well.
