MSU Hosts Third-Annual Old Waverly Collegiate Championship

WEST POINT, Miss. – After wining it the first two years, the Mississippi State men’s golf team looks to repeat again at this week’s Old Waverly Collegiate Championship.
“It’s always great to play at home under familiar conditions,” MSU coach Clay Homan said. “The last two years we were able to take advantage of the home course knowledge and play well enough to win.”
MSU plays host to the two-day, 54-hole event with 36 holes on Monday at the par-72, 7,088 yard Old Waverly Golf Club. The shotgun start time is set for 8:30 a.m. CT.
“I know our guys are up for the challenge and are looking forward to finishing off the regular season on a high note,” said Homan.
The 2015 field features 15 teams representing eight states and seven conferences, including SEC foes No. 37 Florida and Ole Miss. Also participating is No. 32 UAB, No. 43 Troy, No. 52 Southeastern Louisiana, Chattanooga, Cincinnati, Kansas, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, South Alabama, Southern Miss, with UNC-Greensboro rounding out the field.
Ten Bulldogs will compete in the tournament that is open and free to the public.
