Bulldogs Conclude Regular Season At Home

STARKVILLE, Miss. – After earning spots in the Top 25, both Mississippi State track and field teams look to improve as they host the Jace LaCoste Invitational this Friday and Saturday, May 1-2.
The No. 13 men’s team and the No. 22 women’s team will be playing host to 21 teams at the Mike Sanders Track and Field Complex.
“We’re looking forward to hosting and being able to compete at home this weekend,” MSU coach Steve Dudley said. “This is a big weekend for us as it is the last regular season meet before championships season, and a good opportunity for all the athletes to improve.”
Junior Scottie Hearn will be competing in the 400m hurdles for the first time since the Florida Relays, where he ran a personal-best 49.68 in the event. Hearn remains undefeated so far this season and his time is currently the fifth fastest time in the nation. Competing alongside Hearn in the event is Jovan Davis, Justin Pizarro and Wesley White.
On the women’s side in the 400m hurdles will be school record holder Ocian Archer along with Ste'yce McNeil. Archer’s best time in the event came when MSU hosted the Border Clash with a time of 59.19.
Distance runners Rhianwedd Price, Marta Freitas, Kaelin Kersh, Kimari Martin, Mia Meydrich and Madison Milhoan are set to run the 800m run.
Damian Roszko, Mathew Dunn and Branden Nosker will be on the track for the 1500m run, as will Freitas, Meydrich and Milhoan.
Multi-event athlete Erica Bougard, will be taking part in the 100m hurdles, the high jump and the javelin.
Senior Marcus Jackson will be competing in the high jump with teammates Seth Peace, Chance Stephens, A.J. Ward, Jaquarius Wilson, Zachary Taylor, Jesse Austin and Arzell McCoy. The women’s high jump will be highlighted by Bougard, Abigail Dill, Logan Boss and Deja Givens.
Also in the field for the men’s team will be Tautvydas Kieras in the discus. Kieras broke the school record in the discus for the third time this season last weekend at the Southern Miss Invitational with a throw of 196-11.
Three Bulldogs will represent MSU in the triple jump. Jason Harper will compete on the men’s side, while Ebony Brinker and Tiffany Flynn compete for the women.
Action will begin Friday at 6 p.m. CT, with the women’s hammer throw. Also on Friday night will be the women’s pole vault, the men’s hammer throw and the men’s and women’s 5000m run.
Saturday will kick off at noon with the men’s and women’s long jump. Running events will begin with the 4x100m relays at 2:30 p.m. Concluding action will be the 4x400m relays at 5:50 p.m.
