Bulldog Women?s Tennis Welcomes Rentouli

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State women’s tennis announced Monday the signing of standout student-athlete Anastasia Rentouli to the Bulldog program. Rentouli will join the squad in the fall of 2015 as a true freshman.
Hailing from Athens, Greece, Rentouli brings with her some impressive tournament experience. Rentouli has been a staple in ITF and European competition since 2012, when she won the U16 Greek National Championships in both singles and doubles. That same year, she also won two Team Europe tournaments in doubles and was a semifinalist in two more Team Europe tournaments, and ended the year ranked No. 1 in Greece Girls U16 competition.
Rentouli continued to improve in 2013, winning three tournaments and advancing to finals on three more occasions. She was a member of the U16 Greek National Tennis Teams in the European Winter Cups, Summer Cups and the European Championship. She also ended the year ranked at No. 3 in Greece U16 competition and No. 2 in U18.
The past two seasons have shown the most success for Rentouli, who won two more national tournaments in singles and doubles, while also winning an ITF Junior Tournament in doubles competition. In addition, she also advanced to the finals four more times in ITF Junior competition, including three in singles play. She finished 2014 as a member of the Greek U18 National Team and was the U18 Greek National Champion in singles.
Most recently, Rentouli gained the No. 1 U18 Girls ranking in Greece in February 2014, and has maintained the top position throughout this year. Rentouli is currently a 2015 Greek National Champion in doubles and has won one ITF Junior Tournament in singles. Overall, Rentouli has been ranked as high as No. 270 worldwide in the ITF Juniors Ranking, a career-best ranking.
