Track & Field Heads To Gainesville For The Florida Relays

Starkville, Miss. – With the outdoor season well underway, the MSU track and field teams lace up for the 2015 Pepsi Florida Relays.
“This is a big weekend for our teams,” MSU coach Steve Dudley said. “We are looking forward to competing this weekend. There are going to be a lot of talented teams in Florida and we are ready for the challenge.”
Following successful back-to-back weekends in Tuscaloosa to open the indoor season, the Bulldogs will be represented by numerous talented athletes in Gainesville this weekend. Kicking off the field events will be junior Sasha-Gaye Marston in the discus throw on Friday. Following Marston will be Erica Bougard in the long jump before later competing in the high jump. Tiffany Flynn will be competing in the open long jump, while Sydney Rodkey will compete in the pole vault.
Competing in the men’s field events will be Curtis Thompson in the javelin throw and A.J. Ward in the long jump.
Running events will begin at 11:15 a.m. CT, starting with Bougard and Ste'yce McNeil in the 100m hurdles. Representing MSU in the 110m hurdles will be Jovan Davis.
Both Euricka Hardy and Rodrigo Rocha will run the 100m dash for the Maroon and White.
Five Bulldogs are set to compete in the 400m dash. On the men’s side making his outdoor season debut will be junior Brandon McBride along with teammates Alfred Larry and Charles Taylor. For the women it will be Shayla Luckett and Kimari Martin.
Patrick Monaghan will be competing in the 800m run, while his twin brother Andrew Monaghan along with Curtis Kelly and Damian Roszko will compete in the 5000m run.
Female distance runners Mia Meydrich, Emma Neigel and Rhianwedd Price will be competing in the 1500m run, while Cornelia Griesche takes on the steeplechase Friday night.
Other MSU athletes competing this weekend include Flynn and Ebony Brinker in the triple jump. Marcus Jackson will represent MSU in his signature event, the invited high jump, while Logan Boss and Seth Peace compete in the open high jump. Tautvydas Kieras will be competing in both the discus throw and shot put.
