MSU Looks For Continued Success At The SEC Championship

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. - Following its best finish of the season, the Mississippi State men’s golf looks to add a third Top 5 at the SEC Championship in the last four years.
The three-day, 54-hole championship will be held at the par-70, 7,055-yard Sea Island Golf Club. All 14 SEC schools will be competing, with six schools being ranked in the latest Golfstat.com Top 25 poll.
MSU tees off alongside Kentucky at 7:10 a.m. CT.
“I know our guys are looking forward to getting out there and competing for the SEC Championship,” MSU coach Clay Homan said. “We had a good practice round today with four guys seeing the course for the first time and learning what shots are required.”
Ben Wood is the lone returnee from last year’s team that tied for ninth at the event, while Johnny Newnham, Ben Follett-Smith, Tim Walker and Taylor Grant all don the Maroon & White for the first time in the postseason.
“It really gets down to everyone having a good game plan for this course and going out and executing,” Homan said.
