Butler Named To 2015 SEC Community Service Team
The senior from Brandon, Miss., started the year as walk-on after spending last year on the practice squad. But in late December, he was awarded a scholarship.
“It’s an honor to be selected for this team,” said Butler, who has logged 26 minutes in nine appearances this year. “It’s a special honor.”
When not studying or practicing, Butler is can be found volunteering with the Starkville Habitat for Humanity. He also is a part of the reading group at Suddeth Elementary, while also working with various youth groups in the Brandon and Jackson areas.
In addition to assisting with basketball clinics on campus and at the local rec center, he was a part of the team that traveled to Tupelo last April to assist in the tornado relief efforts.
