No. 7 Bulldogs Battle Toreros At The Dude This Weekend

STARKVILLE, Miss. – No. 7 Mississippi State (13-1) continues its season-opening homestand this weekend with three games against San Diego (4-6) at Dudy Noble Field. The Toreros are coming off a doubleheader sweep at No. 9 Texas this past weekend.

- Friday marks the first meeting between Mississippi State and San Diego.
- The 2015 squad is the sixth team in 125 seasons of MSU baseball to win at least 13 of its first 14 games (14-0 in 1985, 2006 and 2013; 13-1 in 1993, 1999 and 2015).
- Friday night starter Preston Brown is the first Opening Day starter to win each of his first three starts since Brooks Dunn won his first five in 2006.
- Current SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week Vance Tatum is 17th in the NCAA with 25 strikeouts (2nd in SEC) and also ranks second in the SEC in opponent batting average (.085) and fewest hits allowed (5).
- The Bulldogs’ offense leads the NCAA in on-base percentage (.452) and walks (95), while ranking second in runs (117), fifth in hit by pitches (26) and 11th in hits (138).
