Soccer Heads To SMU Saturday

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State returns to spring soccer action Saturday as it ventures to Dallas for a friendly against SMU.
Opening kick for the contest is set for 12 p.m. at Westcott Field.
The Bulldogs hit the road looking to build on the momentum of last week’s 3-0 spring opening win against Mississippi College at the MSU Soccer Field.
Aaron Gordon’s squad did all of its scoring in the first half, netting goals from Shelby Jordan, SEC All-Freshman Team selection Mallory Eubanks and Jamila Coner.
Freshmen Kennadi Carbin and Carly Mauldin and Fresno State transfer Ariana Holmes made their MSU debuts in the contest.
Saturday’s match marks the return of assistant coach Ashley Gordon to her alma mater. A four-year starter for the Mustangs, Gordon helped take SMU to three NCAA Tournament appearances, including a trip to the Round of 16.
The Bulldogs return home April 7 for a 7 p.m. contest against Alabama. MSU welcomes UAB for a 1 p.m. outing April 11 before wrapping the spring slate April 15 with an 8 p.m. match against Memphis in Tupelo, Miss.
