Bulldogs Remain At No. 11 In Associated Press Poll

STARKVILLE, Miss. – After wrapping up a record-setting regular season with a win against rival Ole Miss, Mississippi State remained No. 11 in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 Poll.
State held on to its best ranking since 2002-03 with the 55-47 win against the Rebels. With that win, the Bulldogs wrapped the regular season 25-5 overall and 11-5 in SEC play, both school records for victories.
The Bulldogs completed the season sweep of the Rebels in front of a crowd of 7,326, the largest ever to watch a college women’s basketball game in the state of Mississippi.
Sunday’s win secured the Bulldogs a third-place finish in the SEC, a mark that tied the 2009-10 team for the highest in school history.
That third-place finish earned MSU a double bye into this week’s SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament in Little Rock, Ark. The Bulldogs face either Kentucky, Vanderbilt or Alabama Friday, with tip coming 25 minutes following the completion of the 6 p.m. contest.
State received 508 points to stay in the poll for a 15th-straight week, the second-longest run in school history.
The Bulldogs come behind South Carolina, who slipped one spot to No. 3, and Tennessee, who moved up one spot to fifth.
Kentucky, MSU’s possible opponent Friday, moved up to No. 12 while Texas A&M fell six spots to No. 18.
