Track and Field Begins Outdoor Season With Alabama Relays

STARKVILLE, Miss. – After a successful indoor season, the Mississippi State track and field teams will head to Tuscaloosa to kick off the 2015 outdoor campaign with the Alabama Relays.
“We are really excited for the upcoming season,” MSU coach Steve Dudley said. “We have so many talented athletes competing this year and I expect them to leave a strong impact on our program.”
MSU will begin the meet with the men’s and women’s 4x200m relays.
Following the relays for the Bulldogs will be the 400m hurdles with Scottie Hearn, Dustin James II and Wesley White. In the 100m dash, Willie Reed, Marshall Nunn and James Anderson will be representing MSU.
Mia Meydrich and Madison Milhoan will be competing in the 1500m run for the Maroon and White.
Both teams will also be competing in the 1600m sprint relays.
Concluding day one of running events will be the 5000m run with Carmen Brothers, Andrew Monaghan, Mathew Dunn, Branden Nosker, Curtis Kelly and Matt Weickert.
Field events will also begin Friday at 5 p.m. for the Bulldogs with the women’s triple jump. Freshman Tiffany Flynn will make her outdoor debut for MSU in this event. Following the triple jump will be the high jump, which Deja Givens and Logan Boss will be competing in for the Maroon and White.
In the women’s shot put will be Sasha-Gaye Marston and Haley Reynolds. On the men’s side will be Daniel Carroll and Tautvydas Kieras.
Also in the men’s field events will be Carl Pittman and Jesse Austin in the pole vault and Piotr Antosik in the javelin throw.
Day two of the Alabama Relays will begin with the women’s discus throw with Haley Reynolds and Sasha-Gaye Marston at noon on Saturday. The first running event of day two will be the 4x100m relay, which both MSU teams will be competing in.
The meet will be held at the Sam Bailey Track at the University of Alabama.
